- We often perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on the cabs we manufacture to determine the stresses on the cab structure, ensuring the safety of an operator in the case of a roll-over, falling object or tip-over accident. This gives the OEM a better understanding of their cab’s mechanics and anything that should potentially be modified before continuing with a certain design.
- ROPS (Roll Over Protection Structure) testing and certification involves mounting a ROPS cab specimen to a representative machine chassis specimen, and fixing the entire assembly to a rigid testbed, then loading from the side (lateral load), from the top (vertical load),and from the front or rear (longitudinal load).
- The Lateral test requires energy absorption and maximum load support as a function of machine mass, without violating the operator space. The Vertical test requires the cab to support approximately 2 times the machine weight without violating operator space. The Longitudinal test requires the test specimen to absorb energy as a function of machine mass without violation of operator space.
